Your memory is foggy, the result of your past mission where you nearly drowned. You remember that you worked for a company that proposed a future people bought into, whether or not that future was true. You remember the people you worked with and how they treated you.
Anything else you remember is up to you:

As your progress through the game, you are given multiple opportunities to change the fate of your future.
-Who will you build relationships with?
-Who will you trust and who will you doubt?
-Will you discover what future the company is looking for?
-Will you help them? Or will you sway them towards your vision of the future instead?
-Will you simply let fate take matters into its own hands?
